The short version
Scriptorum is local-first desktop software. It does not require a Scriptorum account, upload your books to a Scriptorum service, or include behavioral advertising trackers. Direct purchases are completed on Stripe's hosted checkout; Scriptorum.net never receives your full payment-card details.
Desktop application data
Your vaults, planning boards, story information, manuscripts, settings, and exports are stored on your computer in the location you choose. Scriptorum does not operate a cloud service that receives this content. If you place the library in a folder synchronized by another provider, that provider's terms and privacy practices apply to the copy it receives.
Website and direct-purchase information
Scriptorum.net does not require an account. Cloudflare serves and protects the website, activation API, and standalone downloads and may process limited technical information—such as IP address, browser information, and security events—needed to deliver those services and prevent abuse. Stripe Managed Payments processes direct orders as merchant of record, including checkout details, payment information, tax, receipts, refunds, and transaction support under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. We receive the purchaser's email address, Stripe order identifiers, payment status, and refund or dispute status so we can issue and administer the license.
Optional website advertising measurement
If you accept optional measurement, our website analytics records random session identifiers, page and feature interactions, checkout handoffs, permitted campaign tags, landing page, device category, referring domain, and page-performance measurements (LCP, INP, and CLS). We do not store full referring URLs, IP addresses, checkout email, phone numbers, license keys, or writing in this analytics database. Optional visit and interaction records are removed after 90 days. Verified order totals are kept separately for business reporting, including refunds and disputes, with unknown attribution shown separately. Payment and licensing records remain subject to their operational and legal retention requirements. The Reddit Pixel uses cookies and similar technology to measure website visits and completed direct purchases and attribute them to Reddit ads. Reddit receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, page URL, advertising identifiers, and purchase amount, currency, and a pseudonymous conversion identifier. We do not send your checkout email, phone number, license key, or writing to the pixel, and automatic email and phone matching is disabled. Reddit processes measurement data under its privacy policy.
Optional browser measurement is off until you accept. Payment records used to fulfill orders and report business revenue do not depend on advertising consent. Use Measurement privacy choices in the footer to accept or withdraw permission; withdrawing stops future measurement on this website but does not erase data already sent to Reddit. We honor Global Privacy Control by leaving advertising measurement off. Your choice is stored in this browser. Consented campaign and session information is kept for up to 24 hours in the current tab to connect checkout with its landing session; pending confirmation context is retained for up to 24 hours to recover an interrupted return. Purchase identifiers are stored locally to prevent duplicate reporting. The desktop application has no advertising pixel.
Standalone licensing and updates
The standalone edition sends the license key, a randomly generated installation identifier, application edition, version, and operating-system platform to the Scriptorum activation service. The service returns a signed perpetual device certificate and an update token. It does not receive your Windows account name, book vaults, manuscripts, planning data, or exports. Update requests use the token to verify entitlement and record the activation's most recent service contact.
Steam
Purchases, wishlists, downloads, updates, ownership, and related store activity are handled by Valve through Steam. When you follow a link to Steam, Valve's privacy policy and terms apply. Website links may include campaign parameters that allow Steam to report aggregate visit and conversion attribution.
Support communications
If you email support, we receive the address you use, your message, and any files you choose to attach. That information is used to respond, diagnose the issue, and maintain appropriate support records. Email routing and delivery may involve Cloudflare and Google Workspace.
Sharing and sale of information
We do not exchange your writing or license credentials for advertising. Optional measurement shares limited website information with Reddit as described above; you can decline it or use Global Privacy Control. Information may be shared with Stripe, Cloudflare, Google Workspace, Reddit when you accept advertising measurement, and other service providers where necessary to process a direct order, deliver or activate the application, provide updates, operate the website or support channel, or comply with law.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to a lightweight product website and support operation. Support correspondence is retained only as long as it remains useful for resolving issues, maintaining records, or meeting legal obligations.
Changes to this policy
This page will be updated if Scriptorum's services or information practices materially change. The effective date above will change with the policy.
